Inspiring Leaders

Junior School boys take pride in being awarded leadership roles, and carry out their responsibilities to a very high standard.

Active involvement as Buddies, Librarians, ICT Leaders, House Captains, Road Safety Officers, Charity Ambassadors and Playground Committee members provides pupils with an important voice, and engages them in positive activities connecting with each other, with their Senior School Mentors and with our local community.

Charity Ambassadors

At Campbell, we seek to open the eyes, minds and hearts of our boys to look outwards to those in need, and to realise they can have a positive impact on the world around them.

Our team of Junior School Charity Ambassadors was founded by a group of Prep 7 pupils during the 2015-16 academic year.  They wanted to make a difference by helping others, and asked two members of the Senior School’s Charity Committee to mentor them through the process of organising and promoting a whole school fund-raising event.

In 2016-17, Junior School’s Charity Ambassadors went through a rigorous selection process.  Job descriptions were drawn up and applicants were shortlisted, prior to interviews being conducted by a panel of Senior School Charity Committee members. Each candidate’s enthusiasm and obvious passion for making a difference was clearly evident.

They are looking forward to working on the organisation and promotion of a wide range of charity events this year!

Eco Committee

Our boys care deeply about environmental issues and wish to make a positive change in the environment around them.  Their Eco Committee has been the driving force behind improvements to Junior School’s environmental performance in recent years.

Committee members have audited provision and developed action plans to enable our Green Flag status to be renewed.  Projects have included:

  • Environmentally-themed Outdoor Learning Days
  • Reducing energy usage through the introduction of monitors
  • Litter patrols
  • Composting
  • Recycling plastic, paper, batteries and inkjet cartridges
  • Cash for Clobber
  • Installation of ‘water wisers’ to control the flush of water in all toilets
  • Construction of bird feeders
  • Construction of bird boxes and bat boxes for use at Netherleigh Lake
  • Construction of Bug-inham Palace for minibeasts
  • Membership of the Ulster Wildlife Trust & Woodland Trust
  • The Big Bird Watch
  • The Big Spring Clean
