We were saddened to learn of the recent passing of a dear colleague Mrs Naomi Caves.

Mrs Caves was a long standing and highly valued member of the Campbell community, having first joined the Cabin Hill Pre-Preparatory Department as a supremely talented infant teacher in 1984. Her husband Michael was appointed as a mathematics master in 1971. In his time at Campbell was Head of Physical Education and 1st XV Coach, Head of Mathematics, Boarding Housemaster for 18 years and Senior Teacher. Throughout the couples long and illustrious period of service on behalf of the College, Naomi remained the epitome of loyalty and dedication; a lady of gentility and strength, whose concern for and support of others determined that her contribution would present an enormously positive outcome to the many hundreds of boys in her subsequent care.

All three of Michael and Naomi’s children, Natalie, Christopher and David, were brought up with in idyllic environment of the Campbell grounds. While Natalie attended Sullivan Upper School, her two younger brothers spent their most formative educational years at Cabin Hill and Campbell. All three had outstanding careers at their respective schools and have continued  in similar vein throughout professional lives in the fields of Medicine, Education and the Performance Arts. Naomi was always enormously proud of her children and they in turn have brought honour and respect to their mother’s and to their father’s name.

A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Mrs Naomi Caves will be held on Saturday 22nd October; at Knockbreda Parish Church; beginning at 2.30pm. On behalf of the Caves family we would like to extend the warmest of invitations to all  members of the Campbell community.
