A key priority within our 2016-17 Development Plan is to enhance the quality of our pupils’ transition from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 3. Mr Collier, who teaches in Junior and Senior School, is ideally placed to lead this improvement initiative.

To date, he has audited existing provision through consultations with Junior & Senior School staff and our Prep 7 & Year 8 pupils and parents. Lots of great ideas to extend and enhance our transition programme have been suggested, and some of them are already being trialled.

Recently, James and Rory (former Junior School pupils who are now in Upper Sixth) made a presentation to our Prep 7 pupils and answered lots of questions regarding the transition to Year 8. En route to Mr Russell’s classroom, they were delighted to spot photos of themselves in action in the 2009 production of ‘Peter Pan’!

Last Wednesday, our Prep 7 pupils were welcomed to the Senior School Assembly in Central Hall, and they have been invited to attend a Year 8 Assembly in Middle School on Tuesday morning.

Other exciting new initiatives are being planned to aid our boys’ transition to KS3 in September. We look forward to reporting them to you in the coming months!
