Home Learning

We believe that homework provides an important link between home and school. It is set for a number of reasons: to consolidate work done during the day, to allow the children the opportunity to carry out research, to keep parents informed about what their children are learning at school and to establish the habit and discipline of independent work and study which will be so important throughout your child’s education.

Against this must be balanced each child’s need for recreation and the development of private interests and hobbies. Therefore, the amount of homework each evening should not exceed that which can be done in the recommended time for each Year Group. Generally, homework is not set at weekends or during school holidays.

Parents are encouraged to take an active interest in their children’s homework, and to contact the class teacher if they have any concerns.
