A Level:

Individual Successes

  • Kris Gwynne - 3 A* and 2 A grades
  • Zak Mercer - 2 A * and 2 A grades
  • Michael Spence - 3 A* grades and 1 B grade
  • Imran Azmi - 1 A* and 3 A grades
  • Tommie Andrews, Dan Crawford, James Haslett, Matthew Heath, James Kennedy,Tanay Srivastava and Ross Taylor - all 3 A*/A grades

Overall

  • 62% of A2 students achieved 3 A* - C grades - the highest result since 2009
  • 58% of total entries were awarded A*, A or B grades (49% in 2013, 45% in 2012)
  • 26 % of total A2 entries were awarded A* or A grades (up from 22% in 2013, 21% in 2012)
  • This was a significantly larger cohort than the College has had before. There were 116 students altogether sitting A2 exams

  • 58% of AS students achieved 3 A*-C grades - this is the highest for many years
  • 29% of all entries achieved A grades (up from 20% in 2013, 18 % in 2012)
  • 52% of all entries achieved A/B grade (up from 40% in 2013, 38% in 2012)

There were many individual success stories - 25 students achieved 7 A*/A grades or better

  • Alex Nagar achieved 9 A*s and 3 A grades
  • Malcolm Corry (10 A*s), John Crowther (8 A*s), Scott Dennis (7 A*s), Charlie Edgar (9 A*s), Josh Haslett (9 A*s), David Isaac (8 A*s), Nicholas McMinn (7 A*s) and Ben Taylor (9 A*s) achieved 11 A*/A grades

Overall

  • 89% of students attained the headline measure of 5 A*-C grades
  • 11% of all GCSE entries were awarded A* Grades (9% last year and 6% in 2012)
  • 31% of total GCSE entries were awarded A*/A Grades (32% in 2013, 26.5% in 2012 and 21% in 2011)
  • 87% of total GCSE examination entries were awarded A*-C grades (86% in 2013, 80 % in 2012)

Key points

  • The profile in 2014 was significantly different from 2013. Only 17% of the cohort had A grades at transfer compared to 25% in 2013, whereas 27% had D grades compared to 5% last year.
  • In 2014, every student who came in with a C1 transfer grade or better achieved the 'benchmark' of 5 A*-C with English and Maths.
  • A*-C grades were higher for every transfer grade than they were in 2013.
