    District Cross Country Championships

    Kilbrony Forest Park, Rostrevor

    Thursday 9th February

After two successful competitions and practice runs at CCB, all of the teams across the board did not disappoint and outperformed themselves.

Mini Boys’ (Year 8) - 2nd gaining SILVER Medals

Strong performances form Lukas Kenny (7th), Harvey Kane (9th) and Harvey Flint (14th).

Minor Boys’ (Year 9) – 1st gaining GOLD Medals

Jake Stafford (9 PRICES) came 3rd claiming the bronze medal

Strong performances also came from Jakob Hamilton (4th), Johnny McCracken (7th) and Jamie Livingstone (8th).

The team outperformed any other school, having a 37 point lead on runners up,  St Colman’s, Newry.

Junior Boys’ (Year 10) – 1st gaining GOLD Medals

Ben McMorris (10 PRICES) came 1st  claiming the Gold medal

A Strong performance also came from James Hutton (9th).

Intermediate Boys’ (Year 11/12) – 3rd gaining Bronze Medals

After a gruelling 5000km, excellent running was observed by Matthew Caves (7th), Jamie Anthony (14th) and Jake Rushby (17th).

Senior Boys’ (Year 13/14) – 3rd gaining Bronze Medals

After an unforgiving 6000km in the relentless rain, the team did well to place 3rd just behind Sullivan and an excellent run was observed from Dominic Clear (14 DAVIS).

With some outstanding individual performances, the teams performed remarkably as every team received a medal in their age category.  This is the first time Campbell has achieved medals in every category in well over a decade and the teams should be extremely proud of themselves.

We now look forward to the Ulster Championships at Mallusk Playing Fields on the 22nd February where the teams will hope to qualify for the much anticipated All Ireland Championships (a competition that Campbell has not had a team qualify for in six years).

    J.R Brown - Year 14
