Aims
At Campbell College we aim to develop, maintain and stimulate students’ curiosity, interest and enjoyment in I.C.T. and to encourage pupils to perceive I.C.T. as a means to support self and life-long learning. As a department, we work to enable students to acquire appropriate, transferable I.C.T. skills, knowledge and understanding that will allow pupils to create presentations that are both professional and fit for purpose.
The I.C.T. Department at Campbell College is a forward thinking department that embraces the idea of e-learning with the ultimate aim of providing students with the facility to continue work outside the traditional classroom at a pace the suites the individuals needs. With independent learning comes self-assessment and increased motivation and these are actively promoted by department.

Facilities and Resources
The I.C.T. Department has four main suites that are used by dedicated I.C.T. classes and which are available to other subject areas throughout the year. Plans are underway to provide a multimedia learning environment in the College Library.
All classes are equipped with a data projector and there are a number of interactive whiteboards available to enhance classroom teaching and learning. A suite of C2K machines and the use of the easylink facility allow students the option of continuing with work from their home PC.
A wide range of software applications are available for use inside and outside normal I.C.T. lessons. These range from the Macromedia Studio to MS Office and a wide range of graphic applications. Investigations are also underway to incorporate the use of online multimedia learning assessment tools.
The Curriculum
Each student in Years 8, 9 and 10 receives two periods of ICT per week. In addition, they also complete a number of ICT supported assignments across the other subjects they study; the aim being to create a portfolio of work for assessment under the Key Stage 3 ICT Accreditation Scheme.
Students in Year 11 who opt to study GCSE ICT are timetabled for five periods per week, one of which is theory. The department aims to complete all coursework and syllabus teaching by the end of the Christmas Term in Year 12 to allow increased time for revision and examination practice.
The Department also offers ICT at both AS and A Level. Students who return to study ICT in Sixth Form are timetabled for ten periods per week, four of which are theory. Again it is the Departmental Policy to ensure early completion of coursework to allow additional time for examination revision.
At both AS and A2 the school follows the CCEA Syllabus.
