- To enable students to achieve their potential within this subject

Cross-curricular
Due to the nature of the course, we have fully integrated ICT into our teaching, with the use of ICT an important component for coursework at GCSE. Economic Awareness is also a prevalent theme, which is fully explored within the context of the Northern Ireland economy.
Areas of study
The department recently launched a new course, Applied Business, which runs along the traditional exam-based course but it is two-thirds coursework and only one final exam. As this course is more vocational it will provide students with more practical and transferable skills, which can be carried onto employment and / or higher education.
Facilities and Resources
We work in a spacious area consisting of 3 classrooms and 1 computer room, 2 of the classrooms have a data projector. We are planning to organise an A level trip on a biannual basis, our most recent trip was to Prague.
The courses at Key Stage 4 are delivered by a variety of teaching and learning methods, tailored to the needs of individual classes. These include regular group work and projects. All classes are continually assessed. Individual student progress is closely monitored and reviewed, with additional individual help provided when required. Booklets are used at both GCSE and A level, with a textbook also being provided.
