Boarding : Facilities
School House
School House, as our boarding department is known, is two self-contained units within an impressive main building and, currently, caters for 119 boys at present.
Boarding at Campbell offers excellent value for money compared to other UK boarding schools; the quality of the accommodation facilities are universally acknowledged to be very high in standard.
Boys in Years 8 to 10 board in dormitory style rooms, in combinations of 2-5 boys per room; boys in Year 11 may expect to have shared accommodation; in Years 12-14 boys experience single bedsit accommodation. Sixth Form students, predominantly, reside in a newly built area that was specifically designed to anticipate the transition from school to university.
School House has full use of all the College’s facilities: including squash courts, basketball court, tennis courts, two sports halls, an indoor swimming pool, two all weather surfaces, the College library and ICT suite.
Year 8-11 students study centrally, whilst Year 12-14 students study in their individual bedsits. All students have access to a kitchen, TV room, Games room and Games Console area.
Our boarding department undergoes an annual independent inspection by the Eastern Health and Social Services Board. These reviews have produced consistently excellent results and acknowledge the quality of care that the College offers. Further consistent endorsement is to be found in the words of appreciation of current and former students and their parents.
What our parents and inspectors think of boarding at Campbell College:
“Campbell develops a broad range of skills in the boys; the School seeks to maximize academic ability, offers a full range of sports, encourages creativity, music, drama, and charitable work. This all helps nurture all round ability and confidence in the boys as they move into adult life beyond school”.
Parent, Year 9 and 12 student.
“Campbell College provides a stimulating academic and social education in a relaxed, supportive and friendly atmosphere”.
Parent, Year 10 student.
“This was a positive inspection. The inspection evidenced that Campbell College Boarding Department was meeting all the criteria related to the two standards being inspected. The inspector found that child protection policy and procedures were robust and internal systems in the school were fit for purpose. The inspector found that safeguarding and welfare of the boys who board was given due priority within the school. Young people themselves expressed through interviews and questionnaires that they felt safe and cared for within boarding.”
