A sure start to the season
An encouraging start to the Mini Rugby Season, as the school team ground out a successful result with a 12 tries to 1 victory over Rockport. Mr Anderson was delighted by the performances of all the boys and they represented the school with great pride and good sportsmanship.
Patrick Beverland controlled the game beautifully from the No 10 position, ably supported by his half back partner Malcolm Corry. As always George Piggot ran with real strength and determination, backed up by our own 'Tommy Bowe' - Patrick Osborne, who proved he has the pace to beat anyone to the try line.
Joshua Thompson and Matthew Rodgers terrorised the Rockport attack with some superb tackling, strong running and excellent work in the loose with the latter receiving the ‘Man of the Match’ award for his fearless work in the Ruck and Maul.
Special mention should be given to our School Captain, Andrew McKee, who led by example and made his ‘presence’ felt all over the field, receiving his reward by running in a try from his own half!
Our half time substitutes of Conor Hill, Harry Dobbs, and Ben Frazier all showed huge potential, with Conor in particular displaying great tackling technique and beautiful balanced running!!
Mr Anderson and the squad would like to thank the parents and pupils who came out to support the team and they hope to reward them with similar results in the future.
Mr J Anderson.
