Following a fire presentation by our local fire safety team, Prep 5 visited Browns Coachworks Ltd, Lisburn on Thursday 8 November to find out how fire engines are made. Mr B Brown showed the boys around his factory. They saw the computerised design process in operation and then how the various parts of the vehicle are put together. The boys then experienced what it was like to work the fireman’s hose, followed by a ride in a specially constructed fire engine! They were also privileged to see inside the SOS bus, not yet in operation in Belfast.
