Celebrity Series
Carlo Curley
The College was delighted to present the charismatic organist Carlo Curley on Wednesday 19 March. As a world renowned organ virtuoso, he has performed in both solo and orchestral contexts, in many of the major venues throughout the world, including Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, Scandinavia, South Africa, Russia and France. The College consider it an honour to have him conclude our inaugural concert series this year.
Michael McHale
The Music Department's 'Celebrity Series' was launched this term with a concert featuring the pianist, Michael McHale. He lived up to his growing reputation by performing an exciting and varied programme to an appreciative audience.
Earlier in the day he had given a master class, working with some of our own talented young pianists. In particular, he worked with Aaron Leung, helping him preparing Rachmaninov's 2nd Piano concerto, that Aaron went on to perform in the school concert this term.
Music Society Concert
The decision to follow the theme of the Oscars at this year’s Annual Music Society Concert proved to be inspired. The evening was structured around the happy alliance of sound and vision: the new Drama Studio, once more, demonstrated that it offers endless possibilities to the arts.
Chris Thompson was our Multimedia Co-ordinator and he presented a most polished production. Everyone who was a part of this Concert is richer for the experience: the quality of the musicians’ play was of a very high order. Special mention should go to Aaron Leung, Year 12 School House, for his performance of Rachmaninov’s 2nd Piano concerto; his talent is unbounded and inspiring.
