Ulster Squash Schools’ Cup 2010
On Wednesday 3rd March four teams travelled to Lisburn Racquets Club to take part in the Ulster Squash Schools Cup.
In the U19 section MCB fielded a very strong team all of whom have represented Ireland in the past few years.
Our number one player, Ben Craig, Year 14 Price’s, won his first game comfortably but lost the second after some very long and hard hitting rallies. The third game was another long one with both players displaying patience before going for the winning shots. Ben managed to hang on to the lead and won this game and the match for what was his last time representing Campbell College.
Adam Morris, Year 13 Dobbin’s, and Nicky Connors, Year 13 Allison’s, played some excellent squash against two very experienced players but unfortunately they were not able to out drive or out drop their opponents. Their strength and performances augur well for next year.
Three U15 teams were entered. The U15 ‘B’s’ and ‘C’s’ played some very steady squash against a strong Friends’ School Lisburn, but were unable to dislodge them from their eventual second place in the competition.
The U15 ‘A’ team - Michael Craig Yr 10 Price’s, Chris Morrow Yr 10 Chase’s and Jack Sterritt Yr 10 Davis’s, have all represented Ulster and comfortably worked their way through all their matches to lift the U15 Shield.
The number and quality of players in this age category should ensure that in years to come CCB will lift many more trophies in the Schools’ Cup.
