Alex Scarrow visit to Campbell College
We were delighted to welcome Alex Scarrow, author of the popular TimeRiders series to Campbell on 8th April 2011. Alex gave a fantastic talk to our year 9 pupils, followed by a question and answer session and book signing.
Here is what two of our pupils thought of the event:
‘At first I wasn’t excited, but then when he showed us the trailer for the series I thought it was brilliant. As more was exposed and the first chapter was read to us it was impossible to resist the series! Alex told us all the inspiration of his books, and some secrets about the next novels in the series. He also told us some information about when he used to work in a games company, but didn’t like sharing his ideas so he quit to become a writer. I think this was a good choice, as I never really enjoyed reading – Alex has given me a reason to read.’
‘I was expecting quite an old man, but he turned out to be a fun rocker dude. He seemed to have had an interesting lifestyle (we spent 30 minutes talking about it) as he started off as a games designer. Now he writes a series of books called TimeRiders, which are interesting. We had a great time asking questions, finding out how an authors life works, and playing a really fun quiz which was good. I have started reading his books and I am really getting into them. I think the book signing by Alex Scarrow was brilliant. I really enjoyed it, and it was a great privilege to meet him.’
