Ulster Schools' Squash Novice Competition

The Ulster Squash Schools’ Novice Competition is held annually for all pupils who have an interest in squash and who have not yet represented Ulster in this sport.

This was held on 31 st March and squash was played with enthusiasm and good grace; our teams met sides from all over Northern Ireland.

The U19 team of Robert Cunningham Year 14 Price’s, Rob Bennett Year 14 Allison’s and a late recruit Ben McKelvey Year 13 School were just pipped at the post by a slightly more accurate MCB. Rob Bennett in particular deserved respect for the fearless way he launched himself at the ball

The U15’s did not have their most successful day of play but remained cheerful throughout. The U13 team consisting of Thomas Gillan Year 8 Chase’s, Stephen Peden Year 8 Dobbin’s and Edward Wolsey Year 8 Chase’s solidly worked their way through all other teams and collected the first prize. They are currently working with coaches from Ulster Squash and will hopefully form the basis of a strong team for several more years to come.
