News: Summer Term 2008
Seven Story Weather top the BlastSpace Charts
Seven Story Weather are a 5-piece rock band from Bangor with Andrew Bleakley, Year 13 Armour’s, on drums, Richard Hill, Year 13 Lytle’s, playing lead guitar, and Ben Harbinson, Year 13 Armour’s, on bass; and from Sullivan Upper School Travis Gilbert on vocals/guitar and Jonny Erne as vocals.
The band has already played many gigs in venues around Northern Ireland, including the Waterfront Hall, Black Box in Belfast, Newtownards Warehouse and will be appearing on “The Logal Morden Show”.
Summer 2007, the band embarked on a 4 daylong music festival in Slovakia and played in front of a 1000 strong crowd. Many considered the band to be a highlight of the event. They encountered various complications during the shows that they played, such as a power cut during their first set and Benji’s Bass Guitar breaking during the first song on their second day! This gave the band an opportunity to show off some of their acoustic songs, while they waited for a replacement bass. They were praised for their professionalism at handling these difficulties and the band have been specially requested by the event organiser to come back and play again this year.
Recently, Seven Story Weather spent 2 days in Manor Park recording studio in County Antrim as they recorded a song entitled Better Brand New Day, this song has received critical acclaim from many record producers and fans alike, and went straight to number one on the BlastSpace Charts.
The band cam second in the Northern Ireland finals of the Blastbeat competition which were held on Saturday 26 April in the Limelight, Belfast. They have subsequently qualified for the all-Ireland finals in Dublin later this year.
