Campbell College, an investment with a lifetime's dividend

School life : Facilities & Grounds

The grounds were originally purchased in 1887 by the Trustees of the will of Henry James Campbell as the location for the College which bears his name. Moderate additions and disposals have been made in the interim resulting in a wooded campus of some 100 acres set in the east of the City of Belfast.

The original building, now listed, stands as an impressive example of Victorian architecture and forms the heart of the cluster of school buildings which, in addition to the main building, comprise of 2 classroom blocks, 2 sports halls, a swimming pool, a shooting range and boarding facilities.

The recently built Middle School forms an excellent base for Years 8, 9 and 10 and in May 2006 our kindergarten and preparatory students have moved to the striking new Junior School which enjoys a delightful and secure site close to the main building.

The extensive grounds cover all our needs for our primary sports of rugby, hockey, cricket, tennis and athletics and we are now able to boast 2 synthetic hockey pitches, 10 rugby pitches, 6 cricket squares and 2 new changing pavilions. A new running track is planned in the near future and the Governors are committed to the continuous improvement of our existing pitches and woodlands.

We, and more importantly, our students, are indeed fortunate to have such a spectacular and well-equipped campus, which provides a safe environment for our entire academic and the vast majority of our non-academic activities.
