What do we want for our pupils at this school?

We want our pupils at Campbell to live happy and fulfilled lives. We want our boys to value love and family and friendship, to find a passion for something, an interest in and respect for others and their worlds, the chance of challenge and achievement, an attachment to the life of the mind.

If that is what we want for our pupils, a school should contribute to that end. It shouldn’t be about, or only about, results or skills or contribution to the economy. Campbell College can and does do results and success. However, we don’t think that is enough; our aim is to provide an educational experience that is rich, diverse and exciting in an atmosphere that provides support, encouragement and care for everyone, pupils and staff, here. We want our pupils to love coming here and to go from here prepared for all that human life has to offer.

And we mean what we say. Life is rich and diverse: the pupils have full lives, full not only of work but also of sport, music, drama, societies, expeditions, trips and friendship. All this contributes to their sense of happiness and fulfilment and gives hope that the same things will be found in adult life. We also mean what we say about relationships and care; this is a school where relationships matter, where trust, respect and friendship grows throughout the whole community. And, finally, we mean what we say about the school being open to all. There are substantial funds available through Scholarships and Bursaries to support boys from families who might not otherwise be able to come. This is not a closed world for someone else: it is meant for every boy of ability and aspiration.

May I extend the warmest possible invitation to you to come and visit us and meet the people who make this place what it is.
