CCF
All students in Year 10 join the Pioneers, which is led by the CCF staff. They will learn basic skills in First Aid, map and compass work and adventure training. From Year 11, students may join the Army, Navy or Air Force sections of the CCF where they are offered an exciting range of adventure training. They can avail themselves of a wide variety of fulfilling opportunities and attend Field Days as well as Easter and Summer Camps. They can test themselves in competition, or join the bugles, pipes and drums of the Contingent’s Pipe Band – which has a valued history and tradition.
Members of the CCF who have completed their training may also choose to take a BTEC First Diploma in Public Services. This award is equivalent to 4 GCSEs and is recognised by employers and Universities as a worthwhile vocational qualification.
Daffodil Tea event
The Charities Committee
This is a group of staff and students (Years 11-14) who make a very worthwhile contribution to the wider community. Two of the most well known events include, The Christmas Fair, which incorporates stalls from many international charities and raises a significant amount of money for the Committee’s chosen projects, and the annual Daffodil Tea in March, which is popular with senior citizens. In addition, events are organised with those who have care of children in need of special help.
Drama
The Drama studio
All students take Drama in Years 8 and 9; those with aptitude may take the subject through to A-level. Consistent with our ethos, performance opportunities are not confined to the classroom with the provision of a new Drama Studio encouraging a bright and modern learning environment.
