ADMISSIONS
Campbell College has a long tradition of welcoming pupils from Armed Forces families. We recognise the realities of Service life, including periods of separation, changing postings and the importance of continuity in education.
Families who are settled locally may choose a day place, while others value boarding as a consistent base during periods of change. In both cases, we offer an environment that provides stability, structure and a strong sense of belonging.
At Campbell, a sense of belonging is built through the everyday rhythm of school life. Boys quickly become familiar with routines, expectations and the adults who support them, helping them to settle and feel secure.
Pastoral care at Campbell is structured in two complementary ways, ensuring that every boy is known, supported and guided throughout his time at school.
Horizontally, boys are supported within their year group. Each boy has a tutor who meets with them regularly and takes a close interest in their academic progress, well-being, and involvement in school life. Tutors work closely with Heads of Year and Heads of Key Stage, providing continuity and oversight as boys move through each stage of their education.
Alongside this, the house system provides a strong vertical structure for both day pupils and boarders. Every boy belongs to a house, forming a smaller community within the wider school where pupils of different ages come together. House staff provide day‑to‑day pastoral care, encouragement and support, helping boys to feel part of a stable and supportive community.
For boarders, this care continues beyond the classroom. Evenings follow a clear routine, including supervised prep, shared meals and time to relax, while weekends include a mix of on‑site activities and trips.
Together, these horizontal and vertical layers of pastoral support help boys feel settled, supported and part of a close school community.
For many Armed Forces families, clarity around fees forms an important part of planning. At Campbell College, we aim to be open and straightforward about how school fees and the Continuity of Education Allowance (CEA) work for both boarding and day pupils.
For UK and Irish citizens, Campbell College’s boarding fees sit comfortably within the MOD’s published CEA limits, making boarding a realistic option for eligible families.
As a grammar school, Campbell College’s boarding fees sit within the MOD’s published CEA limits, meaning qualifying families pay only the mandatory 10% parental contribution.
Campbell College is proud to be a CEA +10% school for regular serving Armed Forces families.
In line with our Admissions policy, Campbell College offers a 10% fee discount to regular serving Armed Forces families. This discount applies to both day pupils and boarders, whether or not a family is eligible to claim CEA.
For families eligible to claim CEA, MOD regulations require a minimum parental contribution of 10% of the school fees charged, with the remaining eligible boarding costs supported through CEA, subject to eligibility and approval.
This approach is intended to support continuity in education and to recognise the pressures that Service life can place on families.
Due to our unique Grammar School status, Campbell College boarding fees fall well below the maximum CEA allowance. That means qualifying families only need to pay the obligatory 10% parental contribution towards a high-quality boarding education. For 2026-27 that is £782.10 per term, or £2,346.30 per year

Campbell College has no direct contact with the MOD. CEA is claimed by families directly through the MOD and is paid to the family rather than to the school. Eligibility and applications are managed by the MOD via Joint Personnel Administration (JPA), in line with their guidance.
Families are encouraged to discuss their individual circumstances confidentially with the Admissions team, who are always happy to talk through options and explain the process in general terms.
We understand that Armed Forces family circumstances can change, sometimes at short notice. We are always happy to talk through individual situations, whether families are exploring options well in advance or responding to a new posting.
Discussions may include entry points, day and boarding options, fees and allowances, and any additional support that may be available. All conversations are handled with care and confidentiality.
If you are considering Campbell College for your son, we would be very pleased to hear from you.
