The Campbell Way

From learning to ‘doff their caps’ in Prep 1, to the wearing of distinctive striped blazers; from the ringing of a hand bell in the playground, to pupils standing when visitors enter their classrooms, Junior School is steeped in tradition.

Our customs have developed over one hundred years, connecting generations of Campbellians and reminding our boys that they are part of a very special community.

We are a school that celebrates innovation and modernity; striking a balance between respecting our traditions and embracing change is what makes us unique.

House Colours

Our House System encourages friendly camaraderie amongst peers and fosters teamwork, sportsmanship and participation in all areas of school life.

Junior School has three Houses, named after the first three Headmasters of Cabin Hill:

  •  Lace
  •  Sutton
  •  Vye

Every boy from Prep 1 to Prep 7 is allocated to a House. Once assigned, any younger siblings automatically become a member of the same House.

Throughout each term, pupils may be awarded ‘pluses’ for good work, extra effort, positive behaviour and attitude. Each ‘plus’ is worth a House Point.

Grades on Progress cards for boys in Preps 4 – 7 also equate to House Points.

SUPER stickers are worth 2 House points and are given for being helpful, showing good manners and being considerate of others.

Individual House Cups are awarded each term to the boy in each House with the most effort points, but the ultimate aim is to win the Brett Cup by achieving the highest combined score.

Throughout the year there are other opportunities for a little friendly rivalry as Houses compete in a number of Inter-House Competitions, including Cross Country, Football, Rugby, Hockey, Swimming, Tennis and Athletics.

Being awarded a House Captaincy in Prep 7 is considered to be a great honour.
