Athletics
Athletics has a strong tradition at Campbell College and is offered as a major sports choice in the Summer Term to pupils from Year 8-14, regardless of their ability or previous experience. At the College, we endeavour to create a good balance between performance and participation and, above all, encourage our pupils to enjoy athletics and give of their best at all times.
At the College, pupils can participate across a range of disciplines, enjoying dedicated coaching and tailored training to help each individual reach their potential. Members of the Physical Education Department also run a weekly Athletics Club with each coach having their own area of expertise. Athletes annually compete at the District, Ulster and Irish Schools competitions and also have regular inter school fixtures both home and away.
More recently, our throwers have enjoyed particular success, breaking four school records in the last two years and one district record. The College also stages an annual Athletics Sports-day, whereby, the boys compete enthusiastically for individual and House glory. Many College athletes show their true quality on the day, emphasising the strength and depth among all pupils, including some talented athletes who are usually committed to other sports during the summer term but relish the opportunity of facing challenges both in the field and on the track.
