Football at Campbell College

The Campbell College Football Club provides the opportunity for boys in Years 12-14 to play and develop their skills at both Club and Academy level. The focus within the football club has always been one of participation and excellence. The club provides opportunities for players of all abilities to train and play.

The College is a member of & competes in:

· The Belfast and District Secondary Schools’ Football Association, competing in the Under 16 and Under 18 Belfast Cup.

· The Under 18 Belfast Grammar Schools’ League

· Northern Ireland Schools’ Football Association Cup at Under 16 and Under 18 level

· The U18 Independent Schools Football Association (ISFA - England) Boodles Cup.

In March 2023 the 45 pupils within the Club went on a four day tour to Valencia CF where they trained and played under the eye of Valencia CF coaches. It was a great experience and learning opportunity for the pupils. This sort of tour is something the Club hopes to do every two years.

Football Club Values

Integrity is the core value within the football club. This focus encompasses how players interact with one another, how they communicate with staff both in the football club and the wider school. The emphasis ensures that pupils see the football club within the context of the educational environment that it is delivered and their responsibilities as active participants within the wider community.

The commitment to train and play is significant and each individual within the club is monitored carefully to ensure their academic progress is ensured. The pupil’s education is central to their involvement within the club, a pupil of integrity will ensure that they address all their educational responsibilities first. Staff within the football club are available to provide both academic and emotional support for the pupils in the club.

Football Academy

Football has become an extremely popular sport at Campbell and continues to go from strength to strength with numbers across the club flourishing. This popularity led to the College launching a Football Academy in September 2023.

The Academy emphasises development and personal growth. It aims to create young men of integrity and character, keen learners in the classroom and on the field of play. This will be achieved in a holistic, technical and professional environment, which includes coaches with senior professional backgrounds and top-class facilities. Players in the academy will receive regular coaching, strength & conditioning sessions, video performance analysis (video and GPS), nutrition education, sports psychology sessions and competitive matches together in a supportive and encouraging environment.
