Golf

Campbell College, Senior and Junior golf teams participate in competitions organised by the Ulster Branch of the Golfing Union of Ireland. These include the Irish Schools, Senior and Junior Championships. A new competition in 2013 was the Ulster Schools’ Scratch Championship which was played at the world famous Royal Portrush Golf Course. This will determine the best school age golfers in the Province.

The College Senior golf team also enter the Independent Schools Golf Association ( ISGA) competition. The winners at the local area knockout section qualify to play in the National Finals which are held at some of the best courses in Scotland or England. Winning the local Northern Ireland section also qualifies the school to represent Ireland at the ISGA Home Internationals.

During the year we also run internal competitions to select the best Senior and Junior golfers. The victors are presented with a cup at the College’s speech day prize giving.

Our young golfers will benefit greatly from visits to the local Shandon Golf Club professionals. They hope to encourage the boys through various games to take up the sport. The professionals also offer coaching to the senior and junior golf teams at Shandon Golf Club.
